Example: Pavilion G6 1135sx
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hey. I've been using my g6 laptop for about 9 years now. During that time I had to change the battery once, the HDD once and the keyboard once. It was running perfectly up until about 2 years ago.

It started showing some weird behavior with regards to how it wanted to boot up. It would not turn ON at all if the battery wasn't in and the wall charger was plugged in. Even if the battery is plugged in it won't turn ON, I had to take the battery out for a few minutes, put it back in and then it would boot (without wall charger plugged in).

A few days ago this got worse, now it's refusing to turn ON no matter what I do. I bought a new battery and while initially that would help it boot, if I turned the laptop off overnight and tried to turn it ON in the morning it would not start. I had to put the old battery in and then it would turn ON.  So I went back to using the old battery (which is now 7 years old and doesn't hold charge for more than 5 minutes), as soon as it turns ON I plug it in and keep it like that for as long as I want it and then shut it off.

Now I have done all the hard reset methods, holding power button etc. And it doesn't work. I left the battery out for 2 days, put it in yesterday morning and it turned ON immediately. I shut it down last night and left the battery in it, and this morning it will not turn ON again. Can someone explain what this issue could be? I will be trying with a new battery again hopefully sometime next week to see if that's the issue (had already tried with 2 new batteries the issue was the same), but in the meantime would like any help. Thanks

@mustii
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Let's try this: ( while performing these steps use an old battery to power up the computer and then perform below steps and once you're done with troubleshooting steps insert the new battery and check for the functionality)

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

1. Go to Start, search for Device Manager, and open this result.

2. Expand batteries.

3. Right-click on the ACPI option (usually the 2nd option) and select delete or uninstall. Follow the prompts.

4. Shut down the computer.

5. Disconnect the charger.

6. Remove the battery.

7. Hold down the power button for 1 minute.

8. Insert the battery only.

9. Attempt to turn the battery on.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi thanks for the reply. After waiting for about 1 day (battery removed, charger unplugged) the laptop turned on today evening when I put the battery in. So I did the steps you mentioned above and tried to turn it ON, but sadly it won't turn ON. I'm guessing I'll have to keep the battery out again all night and all day tomorrow for it to turn back ON tomorrow hopefully. This is truly a strange problem...

Appreciate you trying the steps. I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.

Thanks!

Yes that's an amazing solution thanks!

If I could, I would've gone to HP instead of wasting my time here. The laptop is almost 10 years old what help can HP seriously provide me other than telling me to buy a new laptop!

Thank you for posting back.

To get the answer to this question, the laptop lasts between four and five years, on average. This computer reached the end of the support life cycle.

Hence going for a new computer will let you explorer new technologies and features.
