Hi @Grayskin,

If your HP EliteBook 840 G3 is booting directly into the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI screen each time you power it on, it may indicate an issue with your system's boot configuration or a possible hardware problem. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:

  1. Exit the Diagnostics Screen:

    • When the diagnostics screen appears, try exiting it by selecting the option to reboot the system. This might reset the boot sequence and allow Windows to start normally.
  2. Check Boot Order in BIOS:

    • Restart your computer and press Esc or F10 repeatedly during startup to enter the BIOS setup.
    • Once in BIOS, navigate to the boot order settings and ensure that your hard drive or SSD is set as the primary boot device. Save any changes and exit BIOS to see if this allows the system to boot into Windows.
  3. Perform a Hard Reset:

    • Power down your laptop.
    • Disconnect any external devices and the power adapter.
    • Remove the battery, if it's removable.
    • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
    • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try starting the laptop again.
  4. Run Hardware Diagnostics:

    • While in the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI, run a comprehensive test on the hardware components, especially the hard drive and memory. This can help identify if there's a hardware failure causing the boot issue.
  5. Check for Error Messages:

    • Pay attention to any error codes or messages displayed during diagnostics as they can provide clues about the underlying problem.
  6. System Restore:

    • If your system can boot into Windows Recovery Environment, attempt a system restore to revert your laptop to a previous state when it was functioning correctly.
