HP EliteBook 840 G5 Notebook PC
Linux

Hi

I have recently bought an Elitebook 840 G5, I installed 16Gb of memory, a desent nvme and running Linux Mint. The computer works fine, its fast and responsive and I am overall pleased with it.

It is however one thing that bothers me and that is the start up procedure, I am guessing that it is related to Sure Start and secure boot since I have not encountered this issue on earlier generations of elitebooks. It takes a relly long time to start up and sometimes it even starts up the fan to max during startup, once I'm logged in everything works just fine.

I have tried various bios setting, disabled secure boot but it doesn't make any difference.

Is this normal for this generation or is there something else one could do to get it to start in a more normal manner?

Regards

Alex
