Hi @Jeffrey1985,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP All-in-One PC. There could be several reasons why it's not going to the desktop after entering your password. Let's try some troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve the issue.
- Restart your PC: Sometimes a simple restart can fix minor software glitches. Press and hold the power button until the computer turns off, then press it again to turn it back on.
- Check your keyboard: Make sure the keyboard is functioning properly. Try pressing the Caps Lock key to see if the indicator light turns on/off. If it doesn't respond, try connecting another keyboard to your PC and see if that works.
- Boot into Safe Mode: Safe Mode allows you to start your computer with only essential drivers and services. To boot into Safe Mode, restart your computer and continuously press the F8 key before the Windows logo appears. From the Advanced Boot Options menu, select "Safe Mode" and press Enter. If your PC successfully boots into Safe Mode, it suggests that a third-party program or driver might be causing the issue.
- Run a virus scan: It's possible that a malware infection could be causing the problem. Boot your PC into Safe Mode (as mentioned in step 3) and run a full system scan using your installed antivirus software.
- System Restore: If the issue started recently, you can try using the System Restore feature to revert your PC's settings to an earlier point in time when it was functioning correctly. To access System Restore, boot your PC into Safe Mode and search for "System Restore" in the Windows search bar.
- Reinstall graphics drivers: Problems with graphics drivers can sometimes prevent the desktop from loading properly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
