Hi,

I'm trying to perform a BIOS recovery on a laptop, but I can't seem to find the driver on the support page.

Serial : >Do not include the product serial number or any private information<

Model: 15-ac179ne

At the moment the laptop seems to have corrupted Bios files which causes BSODs errors, and any attempt to perform Bios recovery update on its own causes it to freeze and not complete the update.

I would like some help on where to get the BIOS file to manually perform the recovery via usb.

Thanks

Hi:

HP has retired support for the model series since it is more than 10 years old which is why you can't find any info on it on HP's support site.

Below is the link to the last BIOS update HP released for your notebook (F.29):

sp96831.exe

Watch these videos for how to create and use a BIOS recovery flash drive with the above exe file using another Windows PC since yours is not working.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for reaching out,  I did try the suggested approach but it didn't take, The screen remained dark with the caps lock led blinking twice with intervals.

After giving it sometime, I did try to turn it on without the key combinations,  incase the reboot failed, the update initiated and got stuck once again. I think I will have to seek a technician to directly flash the Bios image to the chip.

Thanks again for your help.

You're very welcome.

Sorry that the BIOS recovery procedure didn't work for you.

Hopefully a PC repair shop can fix the problem for you at a reasonable cost.

Cheers,

Paul
