Hello,

Unfortunately, the HP support community does not allow us to help you with your BIOS password.  The only solution is to contact HP and, if necessary, contact them several times to complete your case.

Rules of Participation No posts shall include instructions or directions intended to bypass or subvert security measures, including passwords, locking mechanisms, fingerprint scans, etc., or to bypass any safety measures.

I recommend that you get on Contact HP from your country or region.

The only solution HP will propose is to replace the system board to solve the BIOS password problem requested at computer startup.
For more information, please go to Forgotten or Lost BIOS Password.

I think our friend and @Arthur-c moderator of this community will agree with me.

Please do not hesitate to solicit us in case of need.

Best regards,

Thank you for the change-up in your policies.  The way that there are multiple Posts requesting and receiving bios reset assistance arriving upon immediate web search results conveys to people trying to help aphasiac  family members whom lock themselves out of their computers that the solution would be available in such instances.  Instructing someone to order a new motherboard from hp when the same request that HP solved for numerous other people is misleading to anyone considering buying hp products second-hand, likely because they were told to buy a new motherboard too.

Hp clearly has no vested interest in second hand buyers, though I imagine resale value evaporates with such policies, but the impression that Hp stands for the disposable garbage they produce by posting misleading help histories will not cultivate brand loyalty- quite the opposite-of the 8 hp computers and 4 hp printers purchased retail in the past decade, none were so impressive or superior to other brands as to make them uniquely desirable.   My aunt was simply head of a division of hp years ago, and that was the limited rationale I had to use and recommend hp products.

This “solve some people’s requests but not others for identical request “bait and switch customer service policy  isn’t a tragedy, it’s just a few dollars more than the solution proposed to enter an entirely new brand ecosystem with at least the hope that I’m not mislead or lied to by the manufacturer in any way that inconveniences me.
