Hi @Linda980021,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Envy laptop is having trouble with the display. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.
Check External Display: Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV to see if the display works there. This can help determine if the issue is with the laptop screen itself or the internal components.
Brightness Adjustment: Sometimes the screen brightness might be set too low. Try adjusting the brightness using the function keys (usually F2 or F3).
Hard Reset:
- Disconnect all external devices.
- Remove the battery (if it's removable) and unplug the power adapter.
- Hold down the power button for 15-20 seconds.
- Reinsert the battery and plug in the power adapter, then try turning the laptop on.
Check for Loose Connections: If you're comfortable with it, you can open the laptop and check if the display cable is properly connected to the motherboard.
Boot into Safe Mode:
- Try booting into Safe Mode to see if the issue is related to drivers or software. For HP laptops, you usually press Esc or F11 during startup to access recovery options.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
