Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After replacing the battery in my laptop, I noticed my laptop kept reporting an error. When using thr HP diagnostic tool to teat the battery it suggested the battery needed calibration. After several failed attempts to calibrate, I check the next step which was to perform a BIOS update. Upon running the BIOS update executable the laptop reached a point where it said it now needed to reboot, however, after rebooting the laptop it never booting into the OS. I followed all the steps above according to the advice on the HP website for the specific error code I was seeing. It is very frustrating because even after a number of attempts to reset the BIOS the laptop is still stuck.

I have tried the hot key, I have tried used a recovery key on a usb and I have looked as best as I can for some way to reset the CMOS. At this point I am stuck and feel like I need some support since this happened from following HP guides and downloading only from the HP site.

If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it.

The symptoms of my problem are as follows. After the attempted BIOS update when pressing the power button on the laptop the power button LED turns on and the laptops fan turns on. However, that is all that happens. The screen remains blank and the keyboard back light does not turn on. When trying the hotkeys the same behaviour is noticed. Without any attempt to boot into the OS, I am not sure what to do with the recovery USB.

Please someone help!

Hi @SharjeelP,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

I see that you are facing an issue with your Laptop.

Follow the below steps to fix the issue.

-Perform a power drain on your PC.

1) Unplug the power cord from the PC & wall.

2) Disconnect the power cable from the AC adapter if it is a detachable part and keep it aside.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the AC adapter, then connect it to the wall and to the charging port on your PC.

5) Power on the PC and check if it boots into Windows now.

If the issue still persists, kindly refer to the steps on this link and let me know if that resolves the issue.
