I am unable to turn on my hp pavilion laptop.  I tried doing the unplug and hold the power button down for 60 seconds but that did not work.

When I plug in the power supply the yellow next to the power port as well as the power light just blink.

Hi @Gmarkusic,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Pavilion laptop won’t turn on and the power lights just blink when you plug in the adapter. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check the power adapter and cable

Make sure you are using the original HP adapter.

Inspect the cable for damage or loose connections.

Test with another outlet or adapter

Plug the adapter into a different wall socket.

If possible, try another compatible HP adapter to rule out a faulty charger.

Remove external devices

Disconnect USB drives, external monitors, or accessories.

Sometimes peripherals can prevent startup.

Perform a hard reset

Disconnect the adapter and remove the battery (if removable).

Hold the power button for 15–20 seconds, then reconnect power and try again.

Check battery status

If the battery is removable, try starting the laptop with only the adapter connected (battery removed).

This helps confirm if the battery is causing the issue.

Observe blinking light pattern

HP laptops use blink codes to indicate hardware issues (like battery, adapter, or system board).

Count the blinks and note if they repeat in a cycle.

Try BIOS recovery

Press and hold Windows key + B, then press the power button while holding them.

If the BIOS recovery screen appears, follow the instructions.

Leave it charging

If the battery was fully drained, leave the laptop connected to power for at least 30 minutes before trying again.

I hope this helps.
