HP Notebook 15-dy1091wm
Microsoft Windows 11

Can someone send me a link for the BIOS for my 15-dy1091wm laptop?  The support page is blank and it won't boot so I can't use the utility.  Thanks

Bios from F.39 back to F.26 are all here but IMHO, the only one worth upgrading to is F.36

Did you try restoring the bios from your disk drive?

HP support video for bios recovery

Click here to see how to recover your BIOS.
Do 1, 2, and the first part of 3.
For the second part of 3 you will need a USB flash drive and possibly an
older BIOS if the recent BIOS caused the problem.  Use F.26 above.  Make sure the USB flash had LED lights.

For laptops, step 2 'CMOS reset' there is no CMOS battery nor CMOS switch and no need to open the laptop. Use the Windows key + 'v' as explained here.

To install from USB.
When you power up your system the LEDs on the flash drive should flash once at the instant power is applied. They will then flash about three to five seconds later (hopefully). When they flash a second time that means the files are being read from the flash drive. If you never see it flash a second time then the boot loader is damaged and you cannot recover the bios unless you use a programming tool or replace the chip. You hold down the Windows key + B key when powering up with the USB flash inserted.

Let me know what you find out.

Yes, I've tried that multiple times.  I believe the BIOS is corrupted; I just need to BIOS so I can reflash the chip.

Download the f.36 and use the option to copy the bios files

You will get two files, a rom file and a signature file. You can ignore the signature since you are using a programming tool.

You can replace the bios, chip or possibly program the chip using a 341 programming tool.

Does that need to be run on the laptop to copy the bios or does it know what bios I need?

HP Recommended

That is the bios you asked for.  It needs to be flashed to the rom using a 341 programming tool

If you tried the win-b recovery procedure and it failed with the hard drive and it also failed with the USB flash boot then the alternatives are replacing the BIOS chip, replacing the motherboard or flashing the bios using that tool.

Did you try booting the USB flash that was built with the second option?  the one where you create a boot flash drive. Did the lights blink indicating the USB was being read?

Sorry, in my haste I missed the first sentence of your first post.  Yes, I have a 341 tool.  Yes, I tried the USB method, but nothing happened at all, no blinking lights; it just sat there dead.  Power light is the only light that lights.

This is a minimal usage guide where I tell how to use the CH341a USB flash programmer to read or write a motherboard BIOS. It can be used to restore a bricked motherboard or write a modified BIOS on a motherboard with a write-protected BIOS chip. A text version of this guide is available on my ...
