Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Secure boot option is washed out, and I cant interact with it.I have GPT partition on boot drive and tpm module gets disable automatically when I enable it.I want to update to win 11 , I know there are bypasses but I want to enable everything it needs so I dont need to spend time in the future trying to fix things.Bios ver is F.12.Do I have to load def keys for secure boot? And what do I need to do for tpm.I am running UEFI not LEGACY.

Hi:

See if this works to enable secure boot...

Step 1. Go into the BIOS and Load HP Factory Default Keys and see if Secure Boot becomes available.

(System Configuration>Boot Options>Load HP Factory Default Keys

Step 2. If it does not, then go into the operating system and disable “Fast startup”

(Disable the Fast Startup option from Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do> Change settings that are currently unavailable > uncheck Turn on fast startup (recommended) and save.

Step 3. go back into your BIOS and try Load HP Factory Default Keys.

Step 4. enable Secure Boot at this point.

TPM:

There is a problem with your notebook's model series.

It has a firmware based TPM (fTPM) chip and not a hardware based one.

Windows does not seem to recognize the fTPM device as a TPM 2.0 device.

Even though there is a BIOS setting to enable TPM, the device does not show up under the security devices category in the device manager, so if you want to upgrade to W11, your only option would be to use one of the workarounds to bypass the W11 hardware checks.

I found this method to be the easiest way to do that.

You're very welcome.

Hopefully, Microsoft will figure out a way to get Windows to recognize the firmware based TPM devices.
