My 17 inch HP Flagship laptop stopping charging while being plugged in. I use the original cord that came with it to charge it. It won't charge or turn on . What can I do. What should I try. I tried doing a hard reset and that didn't work. My husband checked to charger to make sure it was working and it was. Please help

Hi @4250SC,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP 17.3-inch Flagship laptop not charging or turning on despite using the original charger. Since you've already tried a hard reset and confirmed the charger is functional, here are a few more troubleshooting steps you can follow:
1. Check the Power Button
- Press and hold the power button for about 15–30 seconds to ensure there's no residual power affecting the laptop’s startup.
- Try turning it on while the charger is plugged in and while it's unplugged to rule out a possible power issue from the AC adapter.
2. Check the Battery and Charging Port
- Inspect the charging port for any debris or dust that could block the connection.
- If possible, remove and reseat the battery (if removable) to ensure it's making proper contact with the laptop.
3. Test With Another Charger
- Even though your husband confirmed that the charger is working, it's worth trying another charger (if available) to rule out any hidden issue with the charging cord or adapter.
4. Inspect the Power LED Light
- Look for any lights near the charging port or power button. If there’s no light when plugged in, there could be an issue with the charging circuit inside the laptop.
- If the light is blinking or showing an amber color, it can indicate a battery or charging issue.
5. Perform a BIOS Reset (Without Turning On the Laptop)
If your laptop is not turning on at all:
- Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Reinsert the battery, plug in the charger, and then try turning on the laptop.
6. Try an ACPI Reset
Sometimes the battery or power issues can be caused by an ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) issue:
- Boot into BIOS/UEFI: While turning the laptop on, immediately press Esc or F10 repeatedly to access the BIOS settings.
- Once in the BIOS, reset the settings to default (look for an option such as "Restore Defaults" or "Optimized Defaults").
- Save and exit BIOS, and see if the laptop can turn on now.
7. Check the Battery Health
If the laptop can power on but won't charge, it could be related to the battery's health:
- If you can boot into Windows (even in Safe Mode), you can run Battery Report to check the battery's status:
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Type powercfg /batteryreport and press Enter.
- The report will be saved to your user folder (usually C:\Users\YourUsername\battery-report.html), which you can review for any battery-related issues.

I hope this helps.
