Hi @Mbojekhan,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A blinking caps lock light and a black screen on your HP 15-d024se Notebook PC typically indicate a hardware issue, often related to the system's power or memory. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot the issue:

Step 1: Identify the Blink Code

  • Count the number of times the caps lock light blinks in a sequence. HP uses blink codes to indicate specific hardware issues.
    • 1 Blink: CPU failure.
    • 2 Blinks: BIOS corruption failure.
    • 3 Blinks: Memory module error.
    • 4 Blinks: Graphics controller error.
    • 5 Blinks: System board (motherboard) failure.

Please let me know how many blinks you're seeing, and I can help guide you further based on that information.

Step 2: Hard Reset

Try performing a hard reset to clear any minor issues:

  1. Turn off the notebook and disconnect all external devices.
  2. Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery if possible.
  3. Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the battery and AC adapter, then turn on the notebook.

Step 3: Reseat Memory Modules (If 3 Blinks)

If the caps lock blinks 3 times, this indicates a memory module issue. You can try reseating or replacing the RAM:

  1. Turn off the notebook and unplug it.
  2. Remove the battery and access the memory compartment.
  3. Remove the RAM sticks and reseat them firmly.
  4. Reinsert the battery and power on the laptop.

Step 4: External Monitor Check

Connect an external monitor to the laptop using a VGA or HDMI cable to see if it outputs anything to the external display. If the external monitor works, the issue may be with your laptop's display or graphics card.

If you identify the blink code or try these steps and the issue persists, I can help you with the next steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
