My buddy was given a laptop that was clearly old Verizon equipment. I'm trying to help him factory reset it, but I'm having issues across the board. When you go to the BIOS menu, you need a "BIOS Administrator Password" but after entering 3 wrong passwords, it doesn't give a code to enter into the BIOS master passwords website. it just says press the power button to turn off the laptop. I tried taking the back off to remove the CMOS battery, but there isn't a CMOS battery in these models. Lastly, I tried going into advanced options though the troubleshoot option, where it says you can "reset the laptop back to factory settings" but when I actually click that, it doesn't give any options to reset anything. So I'm assuming my only option at this point is to figure out a way to reset the BIOS admin password to get into the rest of the options I can't already see. Any idea how to get around this? Appreciate any help.
