HP ENVY x360 - 15-bq002au
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Hi, I upgraded to the latest bios and now the laptop is super slow, laggy, and takes forever to respond to any command. I was using bios F. 05 before and it was all good. The available bios to download is F.08, the hp site drivers section does not show F.05. Is there a place to download F.05 and a way to downgrade the bios? . I already tried restoring Windows 10, and a brand new and clean W10 install is also laggy.

You cannot actually downgrade BIOS version through software.

Thanks for your reply. If it is not through software, then what's the way to downgrade the firmware?

I don't know for sure.

Probably it is possible to replace bios chip on mainboard in some service center, if is it worth the effort.

I would rule out other possible source of your problems first.

There is actually other version of BIOS for your model

https://support.hp.com/lv-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-15-bq000-x360-convertible-pc/15551149/model...

and old files are available if you press "Previos version" tab.

I can't find a "previous version" tab anywhere. That would be a great place to look for.

I don't know, it's right there when I open it.

Btw, did you try F.17 version?

Ok, I just saw that. Thanks. I tried F. 17,when I try to upgrade, I create a usb, then power off laptop, press windows key + B but the system does not recognise the usb and says no bios found - so I can't go with F. 17.

Im just trying the same with F. 05 but it shows a black screen after windows key + B, and nothing happens.

This is getting really frustrating.

Do you know of any oyher way to manually push the bios in?

Thanks.

If you can boot into windows, try installing it from there. Though, again, I don't think you'll be able to downgrade to f.05.

Thanks for that. I also tried updating to F. 17 through Windows, but when the bios installer kicks in, the option to upgrade from Windows is greyed out. The only two options available are to copy bios and to create USB. The USB is created with no issues, but when I restart the laptop and press windows key + B, there is the msg saying there is no bios file available to perform the upgrade.

Any suggestions?
