Hi @boreen ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the "Inaccessible Boot Device" error usually means Windows is unable to access the system drive. Here are some steps to try and fix it:
1. Force Restart and Check Connections
- Turn off your laptop completely.
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external hard drives, etc.).
- Restart and check if it boots normally.
2. Boot into Safe Mode
Since you can't boot into Windows, try Advanced Startup Options:
- Turn off your laptop completely.
- Turn it back on and as soon as you see the HP logo, press and hold the Power button until it turns off again.
- Repeat this 3 times. The fourth time, let it boot normally, and you should see the Windows Recovery screen.
- Go to Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- Press 4 to boot into Safe Mode.
- If it boots in Safe Mode, restart normally and see if the issue is resolved.
3. Use Startup Repair
If Safe Mode doesn't work:
- In Advanced Options, go to Startup Repair.
- Let Windows attempt to fix any issues automatically.
4. Run CHKDSK and SFC in Command Prompt
- In Advanced Options, open Command Prompt.
- Type: chkdsk C: /f /r
Press Enter and let it check for disk errors.
3.Then type: sfc /scannow
Press Enter to scan and repair system files.
5. Try System Restore
- In Advanced Options, go to System Restore.
- Choose a restore point before the issue started.
6. Check for Storage Driver Issues
- If you recently updated Windows or changed storage drivers, boot into Advanced Options.
- Select Command Prompt and type: dism /image:C:\ /get-drivers
- If you see any storage drivers recently installed, you may need to roll them back.
7. Reset Windows (Last Resort)
If nothing works, you may need to reset Windows:
- In Advanced Options, go to Reset this PC.
- Choose Keep my files (if possible) or Remove everything (if needed).
Let me know if any of these steps work, or if you need more help!
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hoi,
