Hi @Arman2627,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're encountering an issue with your boot device when trying to install Kali Linux on your HP laptop. The error message "Boot device not found" (3F0) typically indicates that the system cannot find a bootable operating system on the specified hard disk.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Reboot your laptop and access the BIOS/UEFI settings. This is usually done by pressing a key like Esc, F1, F2, F10, or F12 during the boot process. Check your laptop's manual or look for on-screen prompts for the correct key.
  • Once in the BIOS/UEFI settings, verify that the boot order is set correctly. The hard drive where you want to install Kali Linux should be listed as a boot option.

Secure Boot:

  • If your laptop has Secure Boot enabled, you might need to disable it, as it can sometimes cause issues with non-signed operating systems. Look for the Secure Boot option in the BIOS/UEFI settings and disable it.

UEFI vs. Legacy Boot:

  • Ensure that your laptop is set to boot in UEFI mode rather than Legacy/CSM mode. Some modern Linux distributions, including Kali Linux, work better with UEFI.

Check Hard Drive Connection:

  • Physically check that your hard drive is properly connected. If you're comfortable doing so, you might want to open the laptop and reseat the hard drive.

Intel Optane:

  • If your laptop uses Intel Optane technology, make sure that it's properly configured in the BIOS/UEFI settings. If you can't find Intel Optane settings, it's possible that it may be affecting the recognition of your hard drive.

Create Kali Linux Bootable USB:

  • If all else fails, consider creating a Kali Linux bootable USB and booting from it. This way, you can install Kali Linux without relying on the existing hard drive. Ensure that your USB is set as the first boot option.

Update BIOS/UEFI:

  • Check if there are any BIOS/UEFI updates available for your laptop on the HP website. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues.

Remember to back up important data before making significant changes to your system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
