HP ENVY 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-ep1000 (322X6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi

After a Windows Update in my laptop Windows 11, my laptop crashed with a BSOD, the laptop is not detecting the  Intel RST VMD Managed Controller 09AB. I have tried all versions, even the one available in the HP support web page for my model and the one provided by Intel.

From my point of view and analysis the problem is the driver that can be detected by Windows 11. None is working so far. It's impossible for me to start the operating system normally until the driver is detected.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi:

The driver that I zipped up and attached below has it:

[INTEL.NTamd64.10.0...15063]
%PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9A0B.DeviceDesc% = VMD_inst, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9A0B
%PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_09AB.DeviceDesc% = VMD_dummy_function_inst, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_09AB
%PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_467F.DeviceDesc% = VMD_inst, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_467F
%PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A77F.DeviceDesc% = VMD_inst, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A77F

thanks for the response and driver information. Unfortunately, the driver did not work, I am stuck, none driver tested worked so far, which is weird, the BSOD is the result of selecting any provided driver. No idea, what else to do to recover the laptop. Not able to start the operating system because the storage driver is not detected and loaded. It looks that I need to install another SSD storage to install the operating system again, which is not the expected solution.

Any other information will be appreciated. Is there a way to contact the support to get the any special driver for my model

You're very welcome.

Sorry that driver didn't work.

Since you already tried the driver from the support page at the link below, unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

I'm assuming that your notebook is no longer under warranty, so if you contact HP for further assistance, you will be charged.

@Neoreloaded,

If your model's product number is 486K5LA, your notebook came with W11 preinstalled.

HP PartSurfer

You can use HP Cloud Recovery Tool to create a bootable Windows installation usb drive that installs W11 and all necessary drivers including Intel RST VMD drivers.

Click this link for how to use the recovery tool.

When you use another Windows PC to run the recovery tool software to create a W11 installation usb drive, you'll be prompted to enter the whole product number (ProdID), which you can find on the bottom cover of your notebook. It should be 486K5LA#xxx.

Thanks for your response. Indeed, this laptop is not longer under warranty. From my point of view, the problem requires a dump file analysis, but the bootable USB is not configured to generated the dump file, which can be useful for understanding the BSOD, because there is a driver conflict, none of the drivers is working. On the other hand, there is not BIOS update so far.

Thanks for your response, but the recovery procedure was done sometime ago as an option to try to solve the problem, but the same issue with the driver. The problem here is a conflict between the operating system and any supported driver. A dump file is required and then a dump analysis.
