Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

My failure ID is q0bx1x-77071m-mfpv7g-60vv03. I can't boot into any operating system and my intensive test failed on my Hard drive. What to do?

Hi:

 

The error code reported, Hard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure, means the hard drive needs to be replaced and the operating system reinstalled.

 

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

You may want to consider purchasing a better performing, normally more reliable 2.5" solid state drive (SSD).

 

After you replace the hard drive, you can reinstall W8.1 by downloading the W8.1 64 bit ISO file from the link below.

 

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8ISO

 

Then use the Microsoft utility that I zipped up and attached below, to burn the ISO file to a USB flash drive so that it is bootable.

 

After W8.1 installs, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page.

I purchased a new 500 Gb SSD and installed windows 10 onto it, as your link to get windows 8 requires a license that I don't have, and windows 10 is free. When I installed the drive into my HP, based on the instructions you gave me a link to, it comes up with:

 

Boot Device Not Found

 

Please install an operation system on your hard disk.

 

Hard Disk (3F0)

 

I've followed all instructions on the HP support page here, https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06201699, but when I do the Hard Drive Quick Check it says that it is not available. The page also says to reconfigure my Optane Memory through the BOIS, but my computer's BOIS has nothing in it for Optane Memory. I've hooked up the drive to my Dell desktop and it works fine. Help? Thanks.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with that error.

 

Replacing the drive and reinstalling Windows should have resolved the issue.
