Having upgraded to Windows 11 I want to check if the BIOS version F.18 Rev.A available on HP website is compatible with Windows 11? Has anyone else installed this latest BIOS on a Win 11 system, inc HP Omen 15?
I am currently using BIOS AMI F.15, 02/11/2020, so F.18, released in 2022, is by far the most recent version. Also, F.18 has been released with Windows 11 already in circulation. Furthermore the HP website says that it 'Provides enhanced security. NOTE: HP strongly recommends promptly transitioning to this updated BIOS version which supersedes all previous releases
The HP website does not allow users to select Windows 11 as their operating system and so does not list any specific/dedicated Windows 11 software or drivers.
The HP website lists the BIOS details as follows (see https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/omen-by-hp-15-dc0000-laptop-pc-series/203...
Type:BIOS
Version:F.18 Rev.A
Operating Systems:Windows 10 Version 20H2 (64-bit)
Release date:Aug 18, 2022
File name:sp142023.exe (12.5 MB)

In a stroke of fortune, HP Support have responded to my query! They have confirmed that the BIOS update should work fine on my Omen 15 with Windows 11, even though their website does not explicitly allow users to select Windows 11 as an OS option when searching for drivers and software.

Hello @nicholas_rubin
You are on an uncertain path with Windows 11 ...
Recommendation and solution You should downgrade to Windows 10 because Windows 11 has not been officially tested and released by <HP> and there are no Windows 11 drivers available. |
(1) Make backup copies of the most important personal files and data to external <USB hard drive>.
(2) Downgrade
Please read and follow the guide carefully !
Downgrade from Windows 11 to Windows 10
See Section <How to downgrade Windows 11 to Windows 10 after 10 days>
(3) Please report your results

Hello @nicholas_rubin
Great to hear. The bios is operating system independent, but if there are no other Windows 11 drivers, it's a gamble.
Kind regards
