Hello,

I am trying to run virtual machine on vmware but had a message popping up saying VT-x is disabled.

Am you suggested, I went to enable VT-x and now it is working.

However, I've never had this issue when I first bought my laptop. This happened when I recently sent out my laptop for a repair due to hard drive getting locked and I had my motherboard replaced.

Is the reason I was able to run VMware before is because VT-x was already enabled?

Also, I do need to use VMware but I am concerned if it may not be safe because I've also heard that enabling VT would expose our systems to malicious code that could go very deep in the Operating System structure of the PC and completely disable the latter.

Is it safe to enable VT-x? Are there any additional programs I could download from exposing my laptop to malicious code?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

YES, it was enabled before.

Learn more about BIOS:

When your motherboad was changed, the new one contains new BIOS and new default settings. Obviously, on the new one it was disabled by default.  You enabled it and it started working.

There are literally thousands or millions malcious code over there. Especially for Windows OS, some for Mac OS, very few for Linux.

And thousands of new malware coming everyday. And thousands of malicious code which is not known to the public. Big AV companies and security inteligences register hundres of thousands new pience of malware on daily base. And all this is code is not directly connected to the virtualization.
