Hello, I bought this laptop on the 26th December, 2025 from Currys and it is extremely slow in loading and slow at working. I have been in contact with Currys and they told me to contact yourselves directly.

Hi @caitlinabi03,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I’m sorry to hear your new HP laptop is running slowly; that’s definitely not the experience you should have with a brand-new device. Let’s troubleshoot this step by step:

First Checks

  1. Confirm Specs
    • Do you know the model and specs (RAM, storage type)? Low RAM or HDD instead of SSD can affect speed.

  2. Windows Updates
    • Go to Settings → Windows Update and install all pending updates.

  3. HP Support Assistant
    • Open HP Support Assistant → run Performance Tune-up and Hardware Diagnostics.

  4. Startup Apps
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc → Startup tab → disable unnecessary apps.

Advanced Steps

  • Check Storage Health: If the disk is near full or fragmented, performance drops.
  • Run HP Diagnostics: From BIOS or HP Support Assistant.
  • Update Drivers & BIOS: Use HP Support Assistant or Official HP® Support.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
