OMEN by HP - 15-dc0084tx
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello everyone,

I own an Omen 15 dc0084tx, which I bought in 2018. The laptop is currently running Windows 11 Home Single Language, Version 24H2, and OS Build 26100.3037.

I have attached a screenshot of the system information, which includes details about the BIOS and motherboard that might be helpful.Screenshot 2025-02-09 221531.png

Recently, I reset the laptop and wanted to ensure all drivers were updated to the latest version. After the reset, I installed all the updates available through Windows Update in the settings. To double-check, I also used the HP Support Assistant. However, while the software opens as before, it does not check for any updates. I thought the tool might be outdated, so I tried installing the latest version. Unfortunately, I received an error message stating that it does not support the current version of Windows and that I need to install a legacy version. I cannot find where to download this legacy version. I also tried installing older versions of the Support Assistant, but I still get the same error (screenshot attached).Screenshot 2025-02-04 201210.png

Additionally, I noticed that many other HP utility tools are not installing on my laptop. For example, I cannot install the HP Desktop Support Utilities or HP System Information(installs but does not works). The tool that helps identify the system is also not working, and the tool needed to update the BIOS (I think it's called the framework) is also not functioning. This is very frustrating because I am trying to upgrade the SSD. The 128GB SSD has always been a problem, and I finally have the money to upgrade it. From what I heard, I need to upgrade the BIOS to upgrade the SSD, and I also need the Support Assistant, which was very helpful in updating drivers and other tasks.

Can someone please help me sort this out? I know this is an older laptop, but I am not ready to let it go. Despite the problems, it works fine, and I have a sentimental attachment to it as it was a gift from my father. I want to keep this laptop running for as long as possible.

Thank you in advance for your help!

@babav3nom, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Issues with HP Support Assistant and Other HP Utility Tools on Omen 15 dc0084tx
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It looks like you're facing compatibility issues with HP Support Assistant and other HP utility tools on your OMEN 15 dc0084tx after upgrading to Windows 11 Version 24H2. Here’s what you can try to resolve these issues:

1. Download a Compatible Version of HP Support Assistant

  • Since the latest version isn't working, try downloading an older version manually from HP’s official website:
    HP Support Assistant Download
  • If the latest version doesn’t work, try downloading a version from 2023 or earlier. You might find it in HP’s FTP archives or community forums.

2. Check HP Drivers and BIOS Manually

  • Visit HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads and enter your laptop model.
  • Download and install the latest drivers manually.
  • If the BIOS update is needed for SSD upgrades, download the latest BIOS from this page and update it using a USB.

3. Use Windows Device Manager for Drivers

  • Press Win + X → Select Device Manager.
  • Expand each section (especially Display, Network, and Storage).
  • Right-click and choose Update DriverSearch automatically for drivers.

4. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to enter HP Diagnostics.
  • Run a full system check to see if any hardware issues exist.

5. Check for Windows 11 Compatibility Issues

  • HP might not officially support Windows 11 on older laptops.
  • If necessary, you can consider rolling back to Windows 10, which has better support for your model.

Let me know if it helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
