Hi @Flakineli69

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how worrying it feels when the laptop shows charging but refuses to power on. Thank you for already checking that the charger is working.

Let’s go through a clear set of steps together to help bring the system back to life.

Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove any external devices.
  • If the battery is removable, take it out.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge residual power.
  • Reconnect the adapter (and battery if removable) and try powering on again.

Step 2: Check Power Indicators

  • Observe whether the charging LED near the power port lights up when plugged in.
  • If the LED glows, the system is receiving power.
  • If the LED does not glow, try another compatible adapter if available.

Step 3: Try a Different Boot Method

  • With the adapter connected, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Release and press it again briefly to see if the laptop starts.

Step 4: Run Hardware Diagnostics

  • If the laptop powers on but does not boot, press Esc repeatedly at startup.
  • Select F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run the Battery Test and AC Adapter Test.

Step 5: Use the HP App

  • On another device, install the HP App.
  • Add your laptop and check for any alerts or guidance related to charging or power.

By following these steps, you can confirm whether the issue is linked to residual power, the adapter, or internal power circuitry. Starting with a hard reset usually gives the quickest path forward.
