Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)
Every time I try to login to my HP notebook laptop it says the password is incorrect. It started doing this after it updated to windows 10. Before the update I changed the password because it was doing the same thing and it took a long time to change the password because it kept saying it was incorrect so after it finally let me change it, it started working properly and let me login. I know my password and I know it is not correct so I’m very confused/concerned as to why it is doing this. I got it for Christmas brand new.

Hi @Lilly21301,

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Flower_Bud is at your service.

As I understand, your notebook does not accept the password.

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Have you tried an old password?

Do you Microsoft or Local account?

Follow the steps mentioned below:

  1. Microsoft Account: For Microsoft Account, you could reset the password from the link: https://account.live.com/password/reset. Follow on-screen instructions and then try logging into your computer (Make sure you restart your notebook before you try a new password).
  2. Local Account: For Local Account, you need to perform System Recovery following steps from HP Guided Troubleshooter

Note: Back up your personal data before performing System Recovery.

Let me know how this goes,

Have a great day 🙂

Cheers!
