HP Recommended

I had a hp compaq elite 8000 sff pc lying around and decided to use it for server installation but when i turned it on i get the error: 

162: sys configuration not set ….. changing battery may help 

i changed the cmos battery and turned it on again but it isnt taking any input from my keyboard anymore. 
there is a message at the bottom saying : 

CMOS checksum invalid , default values loaded. 
To get this up and running how do i install or update the bios again or should i just change the motherboard ?
