Hi @ElizaO,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If certain keys on your HP Chromebook 360 are not working, it can be frustrating, but there are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Restart your Chromebook: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix minor software glitches that might be causing the keyboard issue.

Clean the keyboard: Dust, debris, or crumbs can sometimes get lodged under the keys, preventing them from functioning correctly. Carefully clean the keyboard by turning off your Chromebook and using compressed air or a soft brush to remove any particles. Be gentle to avoid damaging the keys.

Check for physical damage: Inspect the keyboard for any physical damage, like loose or broken keys. If you notice any, you may need to have the keyboard repaired or replaced.

Connect an external keyboard: If you have access to an external USB keyboard, connect it to your Chromebook to see if the issue is isolated to the built-in keyboard. If the external keyboard works fine, the problem may be with the internal keyboard.

Check for software issues: Sometimes, keyboard problems can be caused by software conflicts or issues. Here are some software-related steps to consider:

  • Check for software updates: Ensure your Chromebook's operating system and drivers are up to date. Go to "Settings" > "About Chrome OS" > "Check for updates."
  • Create a Guest account: Create a guest account or sign in as a different user to see if the keyboard works there. If it does, the issue might be related to your user profile, and you can try creating a new profile or performing a powerwash (factory reset).
  • Powerwash (Factory Reset): This should be a last resort, as it will erase all your data. If none of the above solutions work, you can perform a powerwash by going to "Settings" > "Advanced" > "Powerwash." This will reset your Chromebook to its factory settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
