HP 15S fq2642tu
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP 15s fq2642tu laptop, and right now it can't turn on. When I press the power button, the power indicator blinks once. I have removed the battery, pressed the power button for 20-60 seconds, and tried to remove all peripherals. I also searched for the CMOS battery, but this model does not have one. I tried using the charger without the battery, but the problem persists.

Hi @HuumbleBee,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A single blink of the power indicator on your HP 15s fq2642tu laptop generally indicates a hardware issue. Since you've already tried several troubleshooting steps, let's go through a few more to see if we can identify and potentially resolve the issue.

Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power adapter.
  • Remove the battery (if removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual electrical charge.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter.
  • Try turning on the laptop.

Check Power Adapter and Battery:

  • Ensure the power adapter is working by testing it with another compatible device if available.
  • Try a different power adapter if you have one.
  • Inspect the battery for any visible damage or swelling.

Internal Component Reseating:

  • If comfortable, open the back panel of the laptop.
  • Reseat the RAM modules by removing and reinserting them.
  • Check if any other internal components, like the hard drive or SSD, are loose and securely reconnect them.

External Display:

  • Connect the laptop to an external monitor to check if it's a display issue.
  • Press the appropriate key (usually F4 or Fn + F4) to switch to the external display.

BIOS Recovery:

  • Disconnect the power adapter.
  • Hold down the Windows key and the B key.
  • While holding these keys, press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds, then release the power button but continue holding the Windows and B keys until the BIOS recovery screen appears (if supported).

Check for Loose Connections:

  • Ensure all internal cables and connections are secure.
  • Sometimes, a loose connection can cause power issues.

If none of these steps work, the issue might be with the motherboard, power circuitry, or another critical internal component.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
