HP ENVY x360 - 15m-ds0011dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

HP ENVY x360. Screen is black, no fans or internals audibly running. LED by charging port is lit white and does not go red(like it usually does when charging) when AC adapter is inserted. Holding down the power button for any length of time does nothing, light doesn't go off, nothing turns on. Battery is internal and not easily removed.

Hi @Sav87

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY x360 laptop is experiencing a black screen with no audible fan or internal activity and the LED by the charging port is lit white but doesn't change when you insert the AC adapter, it may indicate a hardware or power-related issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps to try.

Check the Power Adapter:

  • Make sure the power adapter is plugged into a working power outlet.
  • Verify that the adapter is functioning correctly. You can test it with another compatible HP laptop if available.

Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the laptop from the power adapter and any peripherals.
  • Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to perform a hard reset.
  • Afterward, reconnect the power adapter and try turning on the laptop.

External Monitor:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using the appropriate cable (HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.). This can help determine if the laptop's display is the issue.

RAM and Storage:

  • If the laptop's RAM or storage drive (e.g., SSD) is faulty, it may prevent the laptop from starting. However, these components are usually not easily accessible in modern laptops like the HP ENVY x360.

Battery Reset:

  • Since the battery is internal and not easily removable, you might need to perform a battery reset. This involves disconnecting the internal battery from the motherboard, which might require some technical skills and disassembly.

BIOS/UEFI Update:

  • It's possible that a BIOS or UEFI update could resolve the issue. However, this typically requires the laptop to at least power on, and it may not be possible in your current situation.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
