@NotCruser, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Hard Reset (Power Reset)
This clears any electrical glitches:
Unplug the power adapter.
Remove the battery (if removable).
Hold the power button for 30–60 seconds.
Plug in only the adapter (leave the battery out if removable).
Try to turn it on.
Check the Power Adapter
Inspect the charger: Any burnt smell, frayed wires, or heat?
Try using a different compatible HP charger if you can get one.
Battery Troubleshooting
If it has a removable battery, try booting without it—just on AC power.
If it's non-removable, and the laptop turns off when trying to charge, the battery might be shorting out.
Listen to the Noise
Describe the "weird noise":
Was it a click, pop, or whine?
Did it sound like a fan, spark, or electrical crackle?
A spark/pop sound might suggest a short or failed capacitor.
Check for Diagnostic LEDs or Beeps
HP laptops often blink LEDs or beep codes during hardware failure. Do you see:
Blinking LED patterns on the Caps Lock or power LED?
A series of beeps when you press power?
Let me know how it goes.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
