My Laptop lags and has odd issues since replacing original memory with crucial 16gb ddr4 3200hz.
My laptop began blue screening, and giving me memory warnings, so I replaced the original ram sticks with two 8gb sticks of crucial memory. However since the "upgrade" my laptop now lags, clicks randomly, and does not wake up from sleep, instead the keyboard works, but the monitor is black and after a few minutes the computer shuts down.
I've tried updating the BIOS, clearing the CMOS performing windows startup repair, check disk and scan system files command and nothing has helped.
Please help someone 🙏

Hi @DarrenManning, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Envy x360 15m-eu0013dx is experiencing compatibility or stability issues with the new Crucial RAM. Here are a few steps you can try to diagnose and fix the problem:
1. Check RAM Compatibility
- Ensure that the Crucial 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM is listed as compatible with your laptop's motherboard.
- If the original RAM was 2666MHz, your laptop might not fully support 3200MHz, causing instability.
2. Run Memory Diagnostics
Run Windows Memory Diagnostic:
- Press Win + R, type mdsched.exe, and press Enter.
- Choose Restart now and check for problems.
- Let the test complete and check for errors.
3. Reset BIOS & Check RAM Speed
- Enter BIOS (F10 on boot) and reset to default settings.
- Check if your RAM is running at the correct speed. If it shows 3200MHz, try setting it manually to 2666MHz if the option is available.
4. Try One Stick at a Time
- Remove one stick and test the laptop with only one installed at a time.
- Swap sticks and test again to see if one is faulty.
5. Update Chipset & Graphics Drivers
- Go to HP support site and download the latest chipset and graphics drivers.
- Install the latest AMD/NVIDIA drivers directly from their websites.

6. Check Power & Sleep Settings
- Disable Fast Startup in Windows:
- Open Control Panel > Power Options.
- Click Choose what the power button does.
- Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
- Uncheck Turn on fast startup and Save changes.
- In Device Manager, disable USB Selective Suspend:
- Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers > Right-click each device > Properties > Power Management > Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device.
7. Try Reinstalling Windows
If nothing else works, a clean Windows 10/11 reinstall might help. Backup your data and:
- Create a bootable USB with the Windows Media Creation Tool.
- Boot and perform a clean install.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
