Hi @abcd12341033,

If you're experiencing problems with the touchpad on your HP Pavilion laptop, here are some steps you can follow to resolve the issue:

  1. Check Touchpad Settings:

    • Open Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
    • Ensure the touchpad is enabled and check if any settings are causing limitations.
  2. Update or Roll Back Drivers:

    • Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting Device Manager.
    • Expand the Mice and other pointing devices section.
    • Right-click on the touchpad device and select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
    • If already updated, you can try rolling back to the previous version by selecting Properties > Driver tab > Roll Back Driver.
  3. Perform a System Restart:

    • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor software glitches affecting your touchpad.
  4. Check for Windows Updates:

    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any available updates. Often driver updates are included in Windows updates.
  5. Use HP Support Assistant:

    • Open the HP Support Assistant software installed on your laptop.
    • Run the Troubleshooters and fixes tool to help diagnose and solve the issue.
  6. Enable via Function Keys:

    • Make sure the touchpad hasn’t been inadvertently disabled by pressing the touchpad button (usually it's a key on the keyboard with a touchpad icon) or using a function key like Fn + F3 or Fn + F5.
  7. Reinstall Touchpad Driver:

    • In Device Manager, right-click the touchpad driver and select Uninstall device, then restart your computer. Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
  8. BIOS Update:

    • Ensure your BIOS is up to date. Check the HP Support website for any specific firmware updates that address touchpad issues.
