Hello laptop switches off whenever I press the caps lock key. I need to press power on to get it to start up again. It boots into diagnostic mode when it comes back up. I tried connecting an external keyboard and it happens with the caps lock key on that as well.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Let's perform a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data. Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, a blank display, software freezing the keyboard stops responding, or other external devices locking up.
Next: Restore BIOS default settings.
- Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
- Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
- On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
- Press F10 to Save and Exit.
- Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
