When I start my laptop, it automatically enters into BIOS menu (without pressing f10). However, if I go to ignore changes and exit 3-4 times, after the 3rd or 4th attempt, it lets me enter into the system.

Hi @Nikhil150

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Your laptop entering the BIOS menu automatically suggests a boot device detection issue or a misconfigured BIOS setting. Repeatedly exiting BIOS to reach Windows indicates the system is struggling to locate or initialize the boot drive.

Step-by-step guide to resolve automatic BIOS entry on startup

1. Check Boot Order in BIOS

Your system may be prioritizing a device that doesn’t contain Windows.

  • When in BIOS, navigate to System Configuration > Boot Options.
  • Ensure your internal storage (e.g., SSD or HDD) is listed as the first boot device.
  • If it's missing or listed after USB/network, adjust the order using the arrow keys or drag-and-drop (depending on BIOS version).
  • Save changes and exit.

2. Confirm Drive Detection

If the boot drive isn’t listed:

  • Go to Storage > Device Configuration or System Information.
  • Look for your SSD/HDD under SATA or NVMe listings.
  • If the drive is not detected, it may be loose or failing.

3. Perform a Hard Reset

This clears residual power and resets hardware detection.

  • Power off the laptop completely.
  • Disconnect the charger and all peripherals.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect power and restart.

4. Disable Secure Boot (Temporarily)

Some systems misinterpret boot signatures after updates.

  • In BIOS, go to Security > Secure Boot Configuration.
  • Set Secure Boot to Disabled.
  • Save and exit.
  • If Windows boots successfully, you can re-enable Secure Boot later.

5. Run HP UEFI Diagnostics

This checks for hardware faults.

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to enter HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  • Run System Tests > Fast Test and Component Tests > Storage.
  • Note any error codes or skipped tests.

Let me know how your system responds after these steps—I’ll guide you further if needed.

I have tried all the steps you have suggested. I even opened the laptop and reseated the HDD. However, it still automatically enters the BIOS menu.

Every time I need to press F9 and select the boot option to enter the OS.
