My third trip here. I have an Old HP Laptop - HP Pavillion dv3-2157d.

I asked for help twice now on finding   an upgrade for this old Laptop. I think I have seen in the boot options somewhere that it is BIOS F.1 or maybe just F and it was by F something.

I got a reply from Paul_Tikkanen  Saying I needed to reply with the make and model number. I think this is listed in the first line. Anyhow I wrote him a message and included the following:

Product: HP Pavillion dv3

SN CND 922403M

Part# NV150UA#ABA

HP Pavillioon dv3-2157d

All I could find on this page where I put in the request was - Another message from him askiing for the Product information..

Should I just cut and paste this  every day or two?

The product number you posted indicates that you have a HP Pavilion dv3-2157cl Entertainment Notebook PC.

HP PartSurfer

I guess if you don't look at the model number carefully, the cl might look like a 'd.'

Needing a BIOS update isn't the problem why you can't update to W11.

The Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile processor T6500  processor your notebook comes with does not support SSE 4.2 and that requirement was instituted by Microsoft for W11 24H2 and newer builds.

I had to quit at W11 23H2 on my PC's that didn't have Intel 1st gen core or newer processors because of that new requirement.

If you want to install W11 23H2 for some reason (it has also gone out of support when W10 did), you can watch this video:

How to Run Windows 11 on Older PCs Without SSE 4.2 & POPCNT Support!

Below are the info and exe file links to the last BIOS update HP released for your notebook (F.15):

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp51501-52000/sp51578.html

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp51501-52000/sp51578.exe

It will not add SSE 4.2 capability to the processor.  That is part of the processor design itself.

PS:

Regarding your other reply:

This is what I got from you:

Only this.  You marked the post as solved and didn't reply with the info I requested.
