Hi Folks,
i gifted a laptop HP ENVY Laptop 17-ae0xx / Product # 1FS25AV to my father based out in India.
His laptop is out of the warranty now and HP India is asking me to work with HP US for the below mentioned topics. Seeking your help and guidance. Kindly update me with inline replies to my queries. Thanks in advance.
Issue:
1. We first had an issue with the laptop display ( vertical lines ) were showing up . when pressing a bit to the right hinge the monitor was working We connected an external monitor temporarily and it worked fine. One of the day there was a system update prompted. After running it the system didn't reboot.
We took it to HP Service center and we were told that the parts have to be ordered from US and to bring back the system they need the Key to re install the OS. ( Unfortunately the recovery s/w is not working )
Queries :
Display:
1. How can i get the part number ?
2. Whom should i approach ? How can i buy it ?
3. Will it be available in India
OS Recovery:
- How can i get the Key to OS ?

@bobvad Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that the Laptop not booting after running the automatic update and Display issue ( Vertical lines).
The part number you will find in the manual.
The part will not be available in India.
I would suggets you if your friend or relatives in USA. You can ship the unit to them and get it repair.
For Os recovery you can try for the HP cloud recovery.

My product is HP ENVY - 17t-ae000 CTO , Product number:1FS25AV. I can share the serial number if it is a private email.

2. Regarding OS recovery
My father prepared a recovery disk on thumb drive and unfortunately the thumb drive is not working
Luckily we have the OS key with me. How can i reinstall the OS with the key ?

If you are looking only for the display then the spare part no is HU LCD 17.3 FHD AG UWVA (Touch screen) 925547-001 and HU LCD 17.3 FHD AG UWVA 935938-001
If you need the display along with Bezel then LCD 17.3 UHD AG UWVA with bezel 935939-001
For the Recovery Media you can contact HP Support to order one
1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.
6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.
