Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I usually do the laptop cleaning and repairs by my self, but lately after the last clean up, the machine wouldn’t start up to windows, instead it would show me 0502 error msg, then it would reboot to show “Hard Disk 3F0” error msg

i googled it and found that reseting the BIOS with key combination might help, pressing (Windows key + B + power button), then releasing power button and waiting for the beep sound, the screen remains black and i can not hear any beeping, yet I noticed the “Caps Lock” key starts to blink in a sequence of 2 blinks, Pause, 2 blinks and so on repeatedly.

Troubleshooting steps i took:

  • Tried the combination with the battery only (Same behavior)
  • Tried the combination with AC only (Same Behavior)
  • Running hard drive tests resulted: hard drive short DST check failed
  • Remove and re-install HDD (Same Behavior)
  • Removing the RAM and re installing (Same Behavior)
  • Removed all connections and checking if damaged (No Physical Damage)
  • Will try with another HDD to confirm it is not a physical damage but it would take me a couple of days

any idea what does this mean ?

feel free to ask for any additional information

Thanks!

Hi @MohamedESh

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

The failure ID indicates that the Hard Drive has failed. I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Have a great day!
