Hi all,
I have a issue with my wife's laptop. Yesterday it was rebooting for Windows updates. But at 33% the screen froze (the loading circle was also stuck) after leaving it for a while it was still stuck. So I power cycled the laptop and windows started the update again but again got stuck (I can't remember if it was at the same point). I noticed that when booting the laptop it would take a full 2 minutes to go trough the boot screen. This is an issue this laptop had for a while but had no further impact. So I thought lets give the bios a factory reset, that might help. But now I have the following issue. If I turn on the laptop, the backlight comes on and after a minutes the fans start spinning but that's it. The bios is not loading.
I already did the following:
- Remove the battery and the CMOS battery, press the power button a few times. No effect.
- Let the Laptop stay on until the battery was empty and removed de CMOS battery, press the power button a few times. No effect. ( Basically the same as the first try).
- Replaced the RAM. No effect.
- Try holding WIN + V and power the laptop on to get in the BIOS recovery. Did not work, could not get in the recovery. Screen stay's black with only backlight on.
- Try holding WIN + B and power the laptop on to get in the BIOS recovery. Did not work, could not get in the recovery. Screen stay's black with only backlight on.
Anyone have any ideas? The laptop is unfortunately out of warranty.
Any help is apricated,

Hi Elohi,
Thanks for the response and sorry for the late reply. I have a additional update. If i disconnect the fingerprint board from the motherboard the HP screen is shown and I am able to access the BIOS. If I connect the harddrive the screen turns black after the HP screen and nothing happens. Booting from a USB gives the same effect. I am starting to think it's a broken motherboard.
Greetings,
Jos
