It seems my HP Pavilion laptop went to sleep mode. I pressed a few buttons and it showed the BIOS screen, where I clicked restart.

But after that the slow blinking power button (3 sec ON, 2 sec OFF) only, and even the hard reset (15-30 sec pressed) did not work.

Hi @Mig28,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Whether you hear any fan noise or see the screen flicker when the power button blinks.
  • If the laptop is connected to the charger, does the charging LED behave normally?
  • Did you notice any error messages or unusual behavior before the restart?

 Suggested troubleshooting steps

  1. Check the power source
    • Disconnect the charger
    • Hold the power button for 20–30 seconds to discharge residual power.
    • Reconnect only the charger and try powering on.
  2. Try an external display
    • Connect your laptop to an external monitor/TV with HDMI or VGA to check if the issue is with the display rather than the system itself.
  3. BIOS recovery attempt
    • Press and hold Windows key + B, then press and hold the power button for 2–3 seconds.
    • Release the power button but keep holding Windows + B until you see a BIOS recovery screen (if available).
  4. Check for blinking code patterns
  • Sometimes the slow blinking light indicates a hardware error code. If the blinking follows a specific pattern (e.g., long-short blinks), please let us know.

I hope this helps.
