Hi @Jadeja2222,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand that your laptop suddenly shut down while you were working and now will not turn on at all. You also mentioned that even the charging light does not come on when the charger is connected.

Since there is currently no charging light or power response, this may be related to the power adapter, charging port, battery, or internal hardware. A virus would normally not cause the charging LED itself to remain completely off, so I would first focus on the power issue.

Before proceeding, could you please let me know:

  1. What is the exact model or product number of your HP laptop?
  2. What troubleshooting steps have you already tried? Please list them so we do not repeat the same steps.
  3. When you press the Power button, do you see any lights, fan movement, or hear any sounds
  4. Does the Caps Lock or Num Lock light blink in any pattern?
  5. Are you using the original HP charger

In the meantime, please try these steps
1. Perform a hard reset

  1. Disconnect the charger.
  2. Disconnect all USB devices and external devices.
  3. Press and hold the Power button for approximately 15–20 seconds.
  4. Release the Power button.
  5. Connect the charger directly to a known working wall outlet.
  6. Check whether the charging light comes on.
  7. Try turning on the laptop.

HP recommends a hard reset when a notebook does not turn on.

2. Try BIOS Recovery
If the laptop shows any signs of power but does not start:

  1. Keep the charger connected.
  2. Press and hold Windows + B
  3. While holding those keys, press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds
  4. Release only the Power button, but continue holding Windows + B.
  5. Wait to see if the BIOS Recovery screen appears or if you hear any beeps.

If nothing happens, repeat the process using Windows + V instead. HP documents these BIOS recovery methods for supported models.

3. Test with an external monitor
If the laptop appears to power on but the built-in screen remains black, connect it to an external monitor or TV using HDMI, then try powering it on. This can help determine whether the issue is related to the laptop display rather than the entire system.

However, if there are no lights, no charging indicator, no fan activity, and no response at all, even with a known working charger, this is more likely to be a hardware or power-related issue, and the laptop may require inspection.

Please reply with the exact laptop model and the steps you have already tried, and we can guide you further based on the results.

If nothing happens, repeat the process using Windows + V instead. HP documents these BIOS recovery methods for supported models. For unrelated calculations, such as checking hourly pay for a German Minijob using a wages calculator Germany Minijob Stundenlohn tool, the laptop would of course need to be working normally to access the calculator, but that would be separate from diagnosing this power failure.

3. Test with an external monitor
If the laptop appears to power on but the built-in screen remains black, connect it to an external monitor or TV using HDMI, then try powering it on. This can help determine whether the issue is related to the laptop display rather than the entire system.

I also have the same issue, especially the situation where the laptop suddenly shuts down and then shows absolutely no response when trying to power it back on. The fact that the charging indicator does not even light up when the charger is connected makes me think it may be worth checking the power side of the laptop before assuming that a virus caused it. I would first disconnect the charger and any USB devices, hold the power button down for around 20–30 seconds, then reconnect the charger and try powering it on again. If the laptop has a removable battery, removing it before doing this can also help. It would also be useful to test another compatible charger or power outlet if available, because a failed adapter, charging port, battery, or internal power circuit can result in exactly this kind of completely dead behavior.
