Turn laptop on

Hi @Jharlow1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide the exact HP laptop model number and let us know what happened before the issue started? For example, did the laptop stop working suddenly, was there a recent update, was it dropped, or did the battery drain completely? Any additional details will help us provide the most appropriate troubleshooting.

In the meantime, please check the following:

  • When you connect the charger, do you see the charging LED next to the charging port?
    • Is it off, amber, or white?
  • Have you tried connecting the charger directly to a wall outlet, avoiding any power strips or surge protectors?
  • If you have access to another compatible HP power adapter, please try it and let us know if the behavior changes.

You can also try a BIOS restore to check if the system responds:

  1. Connect the AC adapter to the laptop.
  2. Press and hold the Windows + B keys.
  3. While holding those keys, press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds, then release only the Power button.
  4. Continue holding Windows + B for another 20–30 seconds and watch for any signs of activity, such as the charging LED changing, the fan spinning, beeps, or a BIOS Recovery screen.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
