I have a hp 250 G6 series laptop of more than 3 years age. When I am gonna turning on the power button the laptop doesn't respond, it only makes the sound and caps lock blinks for only one time. What could be the reasons. Possible solution cost?

Hi @colibmo1 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Before we go into cost solution lets troubleshoot the "No post".So far i understand , the "POST"(Power on self test) is not getting completed here that could be the possible hardware issue or can be rectified using steps mentioned below:

  1. Perform a Hard Reset:

    • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
    • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain residual power.
    • Reconnect the battery and the power adapter, then attempt to power on the notebook.
  2. Check Power Sources:

    • Ensure the AC adapter is functioning and connected properly.
    • Use a different power outlet and, if possible, a different compatible AC adapter.
  3. Test with Minimal Configuration:

    • Disconnect all peripheral devices such as external hard drives, printers, and USB devices.
    • This helps determine if the issue is being caused by an external device.
  4. Reseat Components:

    • Remove and reseat components such as memory modules (RAM) and storage devices if you are comfortable doing so.
    • Ensure that all connections are secure and that components like the RAM are properly seated in their slots.
  5. Check for Blinking Light Codes or Beep Codes:

    • Pay attention to any blinking LEDs (such as Caps Lock) or beep sounds. These codes can provide specific indications of what component is failing. Refer to the HP documentation for code meanings.
  6. Inspect for Physical Damage:

    • Examine the notebook for signs of physical damage, such as loose or damaged connectors and ports.
  7. Enter shipping mode to recover:
    1. Shutdown the computer.
    2. Press Windows key + backspace key and plug AC and power on.
    3. After 2~3 sec, check power LED off then unplug AC.
    4. Press power button, system should not boot up if it successfully entered shipping mode.
    5. To quit shipping mode, plug AC then power on.
  8. CMOS Reste and Bios Recovery:  To perform a CMOS reset and BIOS recovery on an HP computer, you can use key combination win + V + power button (cmos reset) for 15 seconds and Win +B+ power button (bios recovery).
For more details "How to cmos reset and bios recovery"  , please, find the hp article:

At last, if issue is not resolved with above steps, it possibly with motherboard issue and you can reach out to HP CC for quote if unit is out of warranty(OOW)

Hope this helps resolve your issue.
