Hi @Zaxs
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you’re experiencing with your laptop—where the power button blinks but it doesn’t turn on until you wait—could be due to several factors. Here are steps to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the problem:
1. Check Power Supply and Connections
- Power Adapter: Ensure that your power adapter is working properly. Try using a different power outlet or a different charger if available.
- Connection: Make sure the charging port and connection are clean and free of debris.
2. Perform a Hard Reset
- Disconnect All Peripherals: Remove all external devices (USB drives, external mouse/keyboard, etc.).
- Remove the Battery: If your laptop has a removable battery, take it out.
- Unplug the Charger: Disconnect the power adapter.
- Hold the Power Button: Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds. This helps discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect Everything: Reinsert the battery (if applicable), plug in the charger, and try turning it on.
3. Check for Overheating
- Ensure the laptop is not overheating. If it feels hot, let it cool down for a bit before trying to turn it on again.
4. Inspect the RAM and Hard Drive
- If you feel comfortable, open the laptop to check the RAM and hard drive connections:
- Reseat the RAM: Remove the RAM sticks and reinstall them. Ensure they are firmly seated in their slots.
- Check Hard Drive Connection: Ensure the hard drive is properly connected.
5. Check for BIOS/UEFI Issues
- Sometimes, issues with BIOS settings can cause boot problems:
- Try accessing the BIOS/UEFI by pressing a key (often F2, F10, or Delete) immediately after turning on the laptop.
- Once in BIOS, check if the hard drive is recognized.
6. Update BIOS/UEFI
- If you can get the laptop to start, consider checking for BIOS updates from the HP support website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
