When I switch on my laptop, the screen does not turn on, but the caps lock blinks a white light 3 times then 2 more times faster. The laptop is on, I can hear it on, but the screen is not turning on.

Hi @Miriam983 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the blinking pattern on your HP Laptop PC 14-d2000 indicates a hardware issue, and the specific pattern you’re seeing (3 blinks, pause, then 2 more blinks faster) often points to a problem related to the system board, memory, or display.
Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
Reset the Laptop:
- Power off the laptop.
- Disconnect any external devices and unplug the AC adapter.
- Remove the battery (if it's removable).
- Hold down the power button for 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and AC adapter, then power on the laptop.
Check the RAM:
- If you’re comfortable with the hardware, try reseating the RAM modules. Sometimes, removing and reinserting the RAM can resolve issues.
- If you have more than one RAM module, try booting with just one module at a time to see if one might be faulty.
Check the Display:
- Connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV using an HDMI or VGA cable. If you get a display on the external monitor, the issue might be with the laptop’s screen or its connection.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- With the laptop off, press and hold the Windows key + B key while pressing the power button. Continue holding the keys until you see the HP logo. This might force the laptop to enter BIOS recovery mode.
Inspect for Physical Issues:
- Look for any obvious signs of physical damage to the laptop, particularly around the screen hinges and connections.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
