Hello! I was playing a game with my friend, we both took a break to eat, I left the game still running and when I came back the laptop was entirely shut down. It won’t turn on no matter what. I tried holding the power button for 15 seconds to reset it, nothing. It won’t respond (led light) to my charger. Every once in a while when I press the power on button the charger’s led light will blink white a few times, that’s the only response I’ve gotten from it since it shut off. I also feel I should mention that it gets hot quickly and often, so I’m thinking maybe it burned out? But the game I was playing didn’t make it all that hot, it’s gotten hotter playing YouTube with one chrome tab open and nothing else. The solutions I’ve seen say to take the battery out, but my laptop’s battery is internal.

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing issues with the laptop not turning on.

  • You can recover the BIOS using a key press combination.
  • Turn off the computer. Press and hold the Windows + b keys, and continue to press those keys while you press and hold the power button for 2 to 3 seconds. Release the power button, but continue pressing the Windows + b keys.
  • The power light remains on, and the screen remains blank for about 40 seconds before anything is displayed. You might hear a series of beeps (usually 8 beeps). Eventually, an HP BIOS Update screen is displayed and the BIOS update begins automatically.
  • If there are still no lights on the PC then try connecting an alternate charger and check if the PC turns on.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
