HP Notebook - 14-cf2007nt
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Greetings,

Before describing the issue there are a few points I would to mention:

* My laptop model does not have a detachable battery

* I only have the original HP power adapter that came with the laptop. No spare power adapters to try with me, however, my laptop was connected to power adapter and was with full battery when it turned off.

Now back to describing the issue:

While I was using my daily driver laptop it suddenly turned itself off. At the time it was on a cooling stand, connected to its power adapters, connected to a LAN via its ethernet nic port and was with a full battery. Periperhals were a Logitech unifying receiver and an SD card. At the time I was editing some documents, several browser instances were open and downloading. Thermals were not abnormal. I have been using it mostly like a terminal to connect to a remote workstation.

Since day 1, my laptop sometimes made a coil whine and some other noises reminding me HDD clicks (at first I thought it was an HDD head but then I remembered my laptop came with an M.2 SSD.). I was unsure whether this was normal or not, but was happy with my laptop overall.

After it turned itself off its LEDs indicating charging or power on state stopped responding. Here are images of the those

I have tried hard reset with 15 and 30 seconds when it is not connected to power. My laptop has remained in the same unresponsive state except for a clicking sound ( two clicks in quick succession, reminding me electromechanical relays' clicks. You may find it here: https://youtu.be/vdXqHarr1Mc at 00:46 and 00:16).

I have tested my wall outlets and those were working fine.

Now here are my questions:

1) Are there further troubleshooting steps to follow other than what virtual assistant suggested?

2) If I were to send my laptop to an HP certified repair center, can I do it after removing my SSD as it may contain commercially sensitive data. Would removing my SSD violate warranty terms?

Best regards, please stay safe and practice social distancing.

UPDATE:

My power adapter seems to be fine, see below:

This will not work for everyone, but you may be lucky?
HP Notebooks and Mobile Workstations -
No Power, No Boot, No Display When Power Button Is Pressed

NOTE: Be sure the battery is installed in the computer and it has sufficient power before continuing. Due to the design of the Embedded Controller/Keyboard Controller, the power supply must be disconnected and the computer must be powered with battery power to reset the Embedded Controller/Keyboard Controller.

Unplug the AC power from the computer.
Press and hold the power button for more than 12 seconds.
Release the power button (after at least 12 seconds).
The computer will power on and should boot normally after releasing the power button.
Re-connect the AC power to the computer.

NOTE: In case the battery is not charging after performing the steps to reset the Embedded Controller, unplug and re-plug in the AC power again.

Hi!

Thank you for your reply, however, I have tried hard reset with longer durations ( batteries cannot be detached in my model) by pressing power button without ac adapter being connected, unfortunately it has not changed the non-responsive state of my laptop.
