HP Pavilion - 15-cs0064st

My laptop will not boot past the HP logo screen. I have tried system recovery and after 10 minutes I get a blue screen. It will not boot into Safe Mode. All system checks passed.

@Larryj1253,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Since your HP Pavilion 15 is stuck at the HP logo screen and won't boot into Safe Mode, even after system recovery, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Hard Reset

  1. Turn off your laptop completely.
  2. Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  3. Hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge residual power.
  4. Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning it on.

Enter BIOS and Reset Defaults

  1. Turn on the laptop and immediately start pressing the F10 key repeatedly to enter BIOS.
  2. Once in BIOS, look for an option to "Load Setup Defaults" or "Reset BIOS to Default."
  3. Save and exit, then restart the laptop.

Boot into Windows Recovery Mode

Since Safe Mode is not working, try this:

  1. Turn on the laptop and force shutdown (hold the power button) 3 times when the HP logo appears.
  2. On the fourth boot, it should enter Windows Recovery Mode.
  3. Select Advanced Options > Startup Repair and follow the prompts.
  4. If that fails, try System Restore if a restore point is available.

Check the Hard Drive

Since all system checks passed, your hard drive might still be causing boot issues.

  1. Enter the HP Hardware Diagnostics by pressing F2 on startup.
  2. Run an extensive test on the hard drive.
  3. If errors are found, your drive may need replacement.

Repair or Reinstall Windows

If the issue persists, you may need to repair or reinstall Windows using a bootable USB:

  1. Use another PC to create a Windows 10/11 installation USB using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool.
  2. Insert the USB into your laptop and boot from it (press F9 at startup and select the USB drive).
  3. Choose Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Startup Repair.
  4. If that doesn’t work, you may need to reinstall Windows completely (backup important files first if possible).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
