HP ENVY x360 Convertible Laptop PC 15m-ed1013dx
Microsoft Windows 11

After an update the other day, my computer will not start properly.

If I don't hit the space bar immediately after the lock screen shows, and put in my pin, it disables my keyboard altogether. If I do press the keyboard fast enough, it allows me to put in my pin, accepts the pin, attempts to load the homepage, and then freezes before it completely loads.

So, so frustrating! If someone can please help! Thank you!🙏💜

@LauraLee227, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

That sounds incredibly frustrating! 😞 It looks like the recent update may have caused a conflict with your system. Here are some steps to get your HP ENVY x360 up and running again:

Boot into Safe Mode (HP PCs - Windows Safe Mode (Windows 10) | HP® Support)

Turn off your laptop completely.

Turn it back on and, as soon as you see the HP logo, press F8 repeatedly until the recovery menu appears.

Select Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart, then choose Safe Mode.

If Safe Mode works, try uninstalling the last update by going to Settings > Windows Update > Update history > Uninstall updates.

Run Startup Repair

If Safe Mode doesn’t work, restart the PC and enter the Windows Recovery Environment by turning it on and off three times in a row at the HP logo.

Select Advanced options > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair and let Windows attempt to fix itself.

Check for Keyboard & Driver Issues

If your keyboard still acts up, try an external USB keyboard to see if it responds normally.

Boot into Safe Mode, then go to Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager) and look for Keyboard. Right-click and select Uninstall Device, then restart. Windows should reinstall it.

System Restore (If Nothing Works) HP PCs - Software recovery options (Windows 11 and Windows 10) | HP® Support

If the problem persists, go to Advanced options > System Restore and pick a restore point before the update.

Hopefully, one of these steps gets your laptop working again! Let me know how it goes. 🤞💜

Take care and have a good day.
