HP Recommended
Hi @Punkg,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The blinking Caps Lock light on your HP laptop usually indicates a hardware issue, often related to the motherboard or BIOS. Here's a step-by-step guide to help troubleshoot.
Count the Blinks
- The number of blinks can indicate the type of error. For example, a blinking pattern like two blinks followed by a pause might mean a specific issue like a system board failure. Check your user manual or HP's website for a more detailed blink code for your model.
Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off your laptop.
- Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reinsert the battery (if removed) and plug in the power adapter.
- Try turning on the laptop again.
Check for External Peripherals
- Disconnect any USB devices, external monitors, or SD cards.
- Restart the laptop to see if it powers on.
Try a BIOS Reset
- If the laptop's power button and screen are unresponsive, you can attempt a BIOS recovery by:
- Press and hold the Windows key and the B key while pressing the power button.
- Keep both keys held down for about 5-10 seconds, then release them.
- The laptop should begin a recovery process.
Reseat the RAM
- If you're comfortable with hardware, you can try reseating the RAM:
- Power off the laptop and remove the battery and power cable.
- Open the back panel and carefully remove the RAM sticks.
- Reinsert the RAM and make sure it's seated properly.
- Try turning on the laptop again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
