My HP laptop 15-ay110na won’t start without the battery in it.
It starts just fine with the battery and AC power, or just the battery, but when I take the battery out and try to boot it with just the AC power, nothing happens.
Any suggestions?

That is unusual, but I really can't see that as comprising much of an issue, unless the battery won't charge.
It would indicate that on the system board the charging/distribution circuit has an issue. Only replacement of the system board would resolve that.

Thanks,
The battery does charge but I lost it 😬
I may aswell get a new laptop if only replacing the system board can fix it, it is quite an old laptop
